Tonight I went to a new weekly meetup organized by my church community. There I met a kind, shy girl named Anne. We ended up chatting some more after the meetup until fairly late, being almost the last to leave by past 10 p.m. As we exited the building, we noticed a group of hooligans coming up our alleyway. An Unexpected Healing Miracle
As it so happened at the gym yesterday, and coordinationally challenged as I am, I accidentally injured myself by slipping on a yoga machine and crashing my left knee onto a thinly padded metal bar – ouch. So much ouch, that I walked around with a slight limp today as to avoid the pain flares from what felt would turn into a formidable bruise. Especially the stairs at work had turned into my archenemy of the day. I was on the bus heading to downtown Salzburg for our church’s weekly youth group bible study meetup, when I suddenly and out of nowhere started thinking about Ruth and Mary (the Mary). Two women with undeniably significant, if not monumental biblical importance, who ended up playing major, even historical roles in the very lineage of Christ Jesus Himself. And in my old nature’s still persistent, almost obsessive desire to be ‘special’ for God—perhaps even just as famous as these two women—I thought to myself, “Wow, what did they do to be bestowed such a great calling on?” As if they had ‘earned’ it.
